A merger in March 1960 of:
- In 1960, they acquired Ulster Brewery Co. Ltd (Caffrey's) of Belfast; Webbs (Aberbeeg) Ltd; James Calder & Co. (Brewers) Ltd of Alloa; James Aitken & Co (Falkirk) Ltd; and William Murray & Co. Ltd of Duddingston.
- Cornbrook Brewery Co. Ltd of Manchester was acquired in 1961 with 270 houses in 1961 and brewing ceased there in 1973.
- They acquired Catterall & Swarbrick of Blackpool with 104 public houses in 1961. This brewery was closed by Bass Charrington in 1971.
- In 1961, they also acquired Hewitt Brothers Ltd of Grimsby, which was closed in 1968.
- In 1962, they acquired Hardy's Crown Brewery Ltd of Hulme, Manchester; this brewery was demolished by Charrington United in 1965.
In October 1962, Northern Breweries became United Breweries Ltd
In 1962 they merged with Charrington & Co. Ltd of Mile End London to form Charrington United Breweries Ltd.
