Smithers & Isaacson, Brewers, maltsters and coal merchants, North Street Brewery, in W J Taylor's 1854 Directory. Registered July 1906.

Brewing ceased 1920 having also been carried on at the former J Dudney, Sons & Co's Portslade Brewery since acquired from Kemp Town Brewery Ltd in 1919. Acquired by Tamplin & Sons Ltd with 125 houses in 1929. Brewery demolished 1984.
