Founded February 1979 by Simon & Anthony Taylor in the sample room of [[Flint & Co. Ltd]]'s former brewery with help from David Cobb (previously of [[Cobb & Co.]], Margate Brewery).

The kit was purchased from [[Watney & Co Ltd (Mortlake)]] and had originally been intended for Alan Greenwood's abortive attempt to restart brewing on the Lovibonds site in Greenwich. Brewing ceased when the lease on the premises expired. Although beers continued to appear, they were brewed by [[Shepherd, Neame Ltd]] and the [[Mansfield Brewery Co. Ltd]].
