Dating from at least 1813, when held by the Bowman family, and probably from the 1770s.
In 1857 Bridges & Cuthbert, also at Colchester, see:- Bridges, Cuthbert & Co Ltd (Colchester), but bankrupt 1867, though they continued to trade until October 1886, when they merged with Harwood & Co (Eye) of Eye to form the Norfolk & Suffolk Brewery Co Ltd.
The following year the latter became the Colchester Brewing Co. Ltd and the Falcon site closed.
