A historic home-brew house. John Perks was recorded in 1845. William Moorcroft in 1901; then his widow Henrietta Moorcroft from 1902 to 1940.

The pub was acquired by Holt's Brewery in 1940, when brewing ceased. Later Ansells Brewery Ltd, then a Holt, Plant & Deakin pub in the 1980s.
