Recorded in 1905 and 1926.  
George Bradford's obituary in October 1940 records that the brewery was established in 1801 and closed in 1927. During harvest times, they supplied the White Lion, Spalding and the Mermaid, Holbeach Fen, as well as the Wheatsheaf.


The Wheatsheaf was later taken over by [[Soames & Co. Ltd]] of Spalding, acquired by [[Steward & Patteson Ltd]] in 1949, and an old signboard at the pub advertises "SOAMES NORFOLK ALES".
