From the Journal of the Brewery History Society Number 91

A consortium headed by Brian Herlehy and publican Liam O'Dwyer with brewer Pat Finn started in July 1982 with a purpose built brewery, from Peter Austin of the Ringwood Brewery. They became Ireland’s first new brewery, and proudly boasted of being Dublin's second largest brewery. With Guinness however there were only two. Oliver Hughes of Harty's Brewery fame and later Porter House in Dublin was the brewer for a short spell, producing at their peak about 20 barrels a week for 50 outlets in the Dublin area.

Later Lian O'Dwyer bought total controlling interest in the brewery.

Bottled Dempsey's Ale was exported to the USA.
