Brutton, Mitchell, Toms Ltd. Old Brewery, 7/15 Princes Street, Yeovil, Somerset.

Established in 1771. Cave & Brutton in 1870s.

Registered September 1891 as Mitchell, Toms & Co. Ltd. to acquire Toms & Co. and F.Mitchell & Co, wine and spirit merchants.

Took over Joseph Brutton & Sons Ltd. of Yeovil April 1937 and was renamed as above.

Acquired by Charrington & Co. Ltd. 1960 and brewing ceased 1965.


Brutton, Mitchell, Toms Ltd, Chard Brewery, High Street, Chard, Somerset.

Sumner & Toms acquired the Chard Brewery in 1825. Toms & Co. Ltd registered in 1890 and amalgamated with wine merchants and rectifiers F Mitchell & Co. Ltd. in 1894 to form Mitchell, Toms & Co. Ltd. Brewery closed June 1926 having agreed an arrangement with Bruttons of Yeovil, acquiring them in 1937 and registered as above. Used for cider until 1960s.
