Originally registered October 1896 as H & B Boyd Ltd, a subsidiary of the Albion (Burton-on-Trent) Brewery Ltd, which went into voluntary liquidation on 25th October 1901.

Acquired by Hunt, Edmunds & Co. Ltd. 1919 with 6 tied houses and was closed in 1921.
