Mackeson & Co. Ltd, Hythe Brewery, Hythe, Kent
Founded 1669 by James Pashley and acquired by Mackeson family 1801. Registered In September 1900. In 1907, they acquired H E De Trafford, Sun Brewery, Littlebourne. In March 1919: they acquired Charlotte Wicken, Moor Brewery (Hawkhurst).
Acquired by H & G Simonds Ltd of Reading in 1920 and was sold to Jude, Hanbury & Co. Ltd in 1929, which came under the control of Whitbread & Co. Ltd. The latter used the Hythe brewery to brew a famous stout until brewing ceased 3rd May 1968. Brewery demolished for housing but offices remain in the High Street.
