The Cross Keys and Dagnall Brewery in 1897

George Crutcher provided the following notes:

William Twiddell was a publican brewer and farmer at the Cross Keys Inn in the 1880s and 1890s. He appears to have been brewing beer for sale at the Cross Keys and to local farmers and families during that time.

The Cross Keys still exists, now a farmhouse, and there are a number of outbuildings at the rear which may have had a brewing function.

Mike Brown notes that Alfred Twiddell was described as a “farmer and former brewer” when he died at The Hollies in 1934.
