Acquired by Ellerman Shipping Lines 1977 which then was acquired by Barclay Brothers 1983.

Brewing ceased 1989.  
In June 1990, Brent Walker sold the brewery to Brian Cowie and Bob Wales as a management buy-out, who reopened it, brewing a range of Tolly beers. But closed again in 2003 when bought by [[Ridley & Sons Ltd]].
