Thomas Wright, High Street, Brentwood, Essex.

First recorded in 1826 as both a brewer and maltster, finally being listed in 1839. Thomas Wright was born c.1770 in the Romford area and was married on 29th October, 1801, at Upminster. He died on 26th April, 1846.

Evidently he was in partnership with a Mr Hill and traded for a while as Wright and Hill.

The Hill was no doubt the Hill of the Brentwood Brewery of Warley Road, Brentwood, see:- Hill & Co. Ltd.

Thomas had three sons, the youngest, James Alfred Wright continued in the malting business whilst his two elder brothers, Thomas Powtrell Wright and Frederich Ebenezer Wright, probably continued their father's brewing interest.
