Thomas Warden,Red Lion, Main Street, Gilmorton, Leicestershire.

The pub was for sale on 29th March 1813, the owner being either a Mrs White or possibly a Joseph Willey. In addition to the brewhouse, there was mention of an 8 quarter malt kiln being operated by John Measures.

Around 1835, Thomas Warden was the victualler and a maltster at the pub. In 1848 he was also a butcher, but in 1855 was shown only as butcher (possibly son).

By 1870 Joseph Glover was at the pub and then from 1875 to 1884, Cornelius Earp.

In 1890 it was an LB&M property, with James Hull the victualler in 1894.

In 1898, Eady & Dulley Ltd of Market Harborough paid £4,000 for the Lion, together with the Royal Hotel at Broughton Astley.

In 1956 the NBC papers show that the brewhouse building was still standing. The pub has recently been renovated, but is still trading as a Banks’ house.
