Edward Stroud & Co, Britannia Brewery, The Green, Twickenham.

In 1838 Edward Saunders of Twickenham Green, and also Mary Saunders a maltster. Then December 1838 partnership dissolved of Edward & Henry Saunders. In 1841 Edward Merry, Twickenham, baker; Edward Saunders, Twickenham, brewer; trustees of the will of Robert Cross, deceased, regarding property on the common and in Bell Lane. For 1855-60 at Twickenham Common and in April 1862 Charles Tubbs, making malt for Mr Saunders, sentenced for stealing lead; however, in 1864/5 Saunders seems to have moved to the New Brewery, Lower Road, Richmond. Edward Saunders of Twickenham Common and Lower Road, Richmond died 16th November 1866, his exors being H Harris & E Stroud. His relict Sarah died shortly afterwards at Amber Cottage. In March 1867: Lot 21 Britannia Brewery with 6qtr plant, Mr Winslet at the tap. On 3rd August 1867 Henry Harris to Richard Gurney, but on the 5th Richard Gurney to Edward Stroud.

In 1869 Edward Stroud (born c1837) and Thomas Saunders Stroud, Britannia Brewery, but in 1871 possibly also listed at Friars Lane, Richmond, home Aspley Villas, The Green. Then in 1871 partnership dissolved at the Britannia, Back Common Road. In 1871 a partnership on 8th March of Edward Stroud and Thomas Saunders Stroud. In 1871 Henry Harris, brewer of 1 Harris's Row, Twickenham Common, executor of Edward Saunders and trustee for a sale under the will of Robert Cross, deceased. For 1871-77 trading as Edward Stroud & Co, Twickenham Green and involved TS Stroud (b1849 but illegitimate) who lived at Aspley Villas, but then moved to Burgess Hill, where he acquired the St John’s Brewery.

On 25th April 1877 acquired by Lascelles, Tickner & Co. Ltd of Guildford, in 1877 listed at The Green and in 1890 they were shown as having stores at 1&2 Colne Road.
