Founded by John Payne, March 1977 at [[Bell's Diner]], York Road, Montpelier. Moved to the above address 1978 and the name was changed as above 1981. In December 2004, following receivership, the pub estate was separated from the brewery. The much scaled down operation will serve the Bristol market. However, the main brands will be produced under licence at Highgate & Walsall Brewery Co. Ltd]] in Walsall.
