Samuel Clarke, Homewell Brewery, West Street, Havant, Hampshire

The site was used for malting since 1721, and there is evidence of brewing from the 1830s. Clarke listed from 1855. The company was acquired by Gale & Co. Ltd in 1903, and the brewery was closed.

Clark's had a tied estate of nine pubs, of which eight were sold to Gales in 1903:

  1. Brown Jug, East Street, Havant
  2. Dolphin, West Street, Havant
  3. Maypole, South Hayling, Hayling Island
  4. Milkmans Arms, North Street, Emsworth
  5. Old House At Home, South Street, Havant
  6. Robin Hood, Homewell, Havant
  7. Ship, Langstone (which was a maltings in 1850)
  8. Star, North Street, Havant
  9. Good Intent, Horndean (sold to Crowleys of Alton)
