Robert Smith, Witham Steam Brewery, Witham, Essex.

Robert Smith was brewing in 1866 and traded for seventeen years, when he sold out to George Henry Potter, who continued for another two years, also as a wine and spirit merchant.

Robert Smith was originally listed as Ale, Stout and Porter brewer, dealer in malt and hops.

In an Almanack advertisement of 1873, he was selling Old Ales at 1/2 to 1/6 per gallon, Mild at 10d to 1/2d, Pale Bitter Ale, XX at 1/2, Pale Bitter Ale, X at 1/- per gallon, Stout XX, very good for 1/2d and Porter X at 1/- a gallon.
