Following the closure of [[Higson's Brewery Ltd]] at the Mersey Brewery, the brewery was acquired by 'GB Breweries' in 1990. During the period 1991-1992, the company was acquired by Brewery Group Denmark AS (the makers of '''Faxe''' Lager). At this time, it was trading as Robert Cain & Co Ltd, and the Robert Cain Brewery Ltd.

Following the closure of Higson's Brewery Ltd at the Mersey Brewery, the brewery (which had been modernised by Boddingtons) was acquired by 'GB Breweries' in 1990. During the period 1991-1992, the company was acquired by Brewery Group Denmark AS (the makers of Faxe Lager). At this time, it was trading as Robert Cain & Co Ltd, and the Robert Cain Brewery Ltd.
