The property now known as The Shambles and Catsmere, were made into one in 1861 and was known as Pattens.

In this year, Anthony Patten was brewing here, also retailing beer and groceries. Richard Patten was brewing, and retailing in 1894 was Mrs Rebecca Patten, In 1902 the title was R.Pattens and Sons, brewers, beer retailers, bakers, farmers and shop keepers at Colne Green.

Charles and Frederick Patten were continuing the brewing and beer retailing at the last entry from 1908 to 1914, when it was C and F. Patten Brothers.
