Founded 1773 when Elizabeth Metcalfe inherited the George Inn.

Registered October 1896.

In 1909, arrangements made to amalgamate with John Smith's Tadcaster Brewery Co. Ltd and offered for sale in 1910 with 16 public houses.

Brewing ceased 1912.
