Mrs Jemima Willett, Coach & Horses, Market Place, Anstey, Leicestershire.

In 1846, Richard Arguile was at the pub. Around 1870 to 1875, John Willett was the victualler at the pub, but in 1876 Mrs Jemima Willett was buying her wine and spirits from All Saints Brewery, suggesting that she had taken over from her husband. She was listed from 1877 to 1887 as a brewer. However, she was only shown as a victualler in 1894 and two years later, Thomas Bosworth was running the pub. In 1898, he was shown as paying £80 rent to Daniel Pettifor & Sons.

In 1900, it was part of the Daniel Pettifor & Sons’s estate bought by Marstons PLC, indeed Daniel Pettifor actually seems to have been living on the premises. With a value of £10,100, twice that of the brewery itself, it was the most expensive piece of property in the take-over. It was fully licensed and had been rebuilt shortly before the acquisition. It was described as doing a considerable and increasing trade, the tenant suggested around £100 per month, and is still trading.
