The Phoenix Brewery on South Street is still standing and is probably one of the most intact defunct brewery buildings still standing in the county. It doesn't have any chimney at all and having walked round it there are obviously some original buildings that have gone and a few lean-to's that are probably not original. I first noticed the brewery as you could see the faded "PHOENIX BREWERY" paint work across the windows from the main road. The building is currently empty and I think it was previously used as a local council store. It was for sale a few years ago. The site does still seem to be original although the brewery house is now a bungalow occupied by a children's nursery.
