Henry Porter, White Horse Inn and Brewery, Parsonage Lane, Halstead, Essex.

Henry Porter was listed as a brewer and maltster in 1882, but he was evidently brewing his own beer for consumption at the White Horse Inn as early as 1870, as George Cook who was a relative of Henry Porter, learnt his early brewing skills here before moving on to Gosling's Brewery, Bocking and then setting up on his own further down the hill at The Griffin.

The public house which was a Greene King and Sons tenancy, closed for trading in October, 1990.
