Built 1880s by William Butler at rear of the Crown public house. Registered January 1895. Merged with [[Henry Mitchell & Co. Ltd]] with 130 houses in 1898 to form [[Mitchells & Butlers Ltd]]. Oddly, [[Whitbread & Co. Ltd]] listed here 1921.

The brewery buildings survived almost into the C21 before falling to the city centre redevelopment. The Crown pub still trades, but these days more of a nightclub.

The former Crown pub
William Butler was born in Hinckley, Leicestershire in 1843. This blue plaque is displayed on the Greyhound Inn, New Buildings, Hinckley.
