Paul Janssens commenced brewing in September, 1982, at No 2 Jubilee End, Langford Industrial Estate, and brewed a regular bitter called Brightlingsea Bitter of 1037 O.G. and occasionally a Strong Brew of 1051 O.G. The plant used was second hand and no bottled beers were produced.

The capital outlay was £18,000 with several local investors, but the venture collapsed in February, 1984 with reputed debts of £10,000.

The Old Lifeboat House at Clacton and the Freemason's Arms at Brightlingsea, both free houses, used to sell the draught beer.
