John Barraclough & Co., Albion Inn, 28 Ivegate, Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Described as "hotel, coach-house and brewery" in deeds of 1833.

Bought by John Barraclough in 1849.

Brewing appears to have ceased upon death of Barraclough in 1884.

The premises were bought by Yates Brothers in 1941 and still stand.

Malcolm Toft writes:-

The building was originally a private residence and later a wool warehouse. Around 1840 the premises were converted into a public house.

John Barraclough took up residence in 1849 and in the following year he advertised his “good lively home brewed ale” at 10d a gallon. A new brewhouse was built in 1855.

After John's death in 1884 brewing seems to have terminated, and his successors concentrated on the wine and spirit trade which had been the main stay of the trade.

Now a Yates Wine Lodge occupies the site.
