Simson & McPherson Ltd, St Mary's Brewery, Canongate, Edinburgh, Lothian.
Founded by James Simson at Melrose 1839. St.Mary's Brewery opened 1864.
Registered February 1896 to acquire James Simson & Sons and John McPherson, Sandyford Brewery, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, with 26 tied houses.
Acquired by Robert Deuchar Ltd. 1900 and brewing ceased at Edinburgh in 1901 and at Melrose in 1906.
Simson & McPherson Ltd, Abbey Brewery, Melrose, Borders.
Bought by Robert Deuchar Ltd in 1900 and brewing ceased 1906.
Presented the Abbey Brewery to the nation in 1950 to facilitate improvements to Melrose Abbey ruins.
Brewery demolished.
