Walker Cain Ltd, Dallam Lane Brewery, Dallam Lane, Warrington, Cheshire
The Peter Walker Brewery was founded in 1864 when the brewery in King Street was leased. Dallam Lane site acquired and brewery built 1866. Having merged with A B Walker's Shobnall Brewery in Burton-upon-Trent, the company was registered in 1889 as Peter Walker & Son (Warrington & Burton) Ltd. At this time, they adopted a trade mark of a medieval lady on horseback.
- In 1905, they acquired Glover & Son (Liverpool), with 35 pubs.
- In 1913, they acquired Tarbuck's Brewery Ltd of Liverpool with 17 tied houses.
Merged with the Liverpool brewer Robert Cain & Sons Ltd in September 1921 to form Peter Walker & Robert Cain Ltd. The name was changed to Walker Cain Ltd in 1946. Merged with Joshua Tetley & Son Ltd of Leeds in 1960 to form Tetley Walker Ltd, later part of Carlsberg-Tetley.
The Warrington brewery was closed in 1996, and now forms part of a large supermarket and the new Warrington Wolves Rugby League ground.
