Trading 1760s by the Leman family. By 1872 Sumner and William Tucker Toms. Sumner died 1889, when trading as Toms & Co. Ltd. In 1890 became a limited company and amalgamated with wine merchants and rectifiers F Mitchell & Co. Ltd. in 1894 to form Mitchell, Toms & Co. Ltd.

Established in 1771. Cave & Brutton in 1870s.

Registered September 1891 as Mitchell, Toms & Co. Ltd. to acquire Toms & Co. and F.Mitchell & Co, wine and spirit merchants. Took over Joseph Brutton & Sons Ltd. of Yeovil April 1937 and was renamed as above. Acquired by Charrington & Co. Ltd. 1960 and brewing ceased 1965.
