Black Sheep Brewery plc

Black Sheep Brewery plc, Wellgarth, Masham, North Yorkshire.

Started by Paul Theakston of the local brewing family. Brewing commenced 1992 in parts of T Lightfoot's former brewery, which was closed by Theakstons in 1919.

Following the demise of Mitchells of Lancaster in December 2018, York Brewery and its estate of pubs were acquired. The pubs acquired were: Last Drop Inn, York; Mr Foley's Tap House, Leeds; The Tap Room, York; and The Three Legged Mare, York.

Following administration, the company was acquired by London investment firm Breal Capital in 2023.
