George Ludlam, New Inn, London Road, Oadby, Leicestershire.
In 1848 George “Tibby” Ludlam, born 1817, was listed as a painter and by 1870 he was running the New Inn, which was built around 1864. For 1877-87 Ludlam was listed as the brewer until he left the pub in 1888. He was followed by Albert Durrad.
The pub was then bought by Thomas Fox, a beer wholesaler at the Fish & Quart in Leicester, who also owned the Travellers Rest.
In 1899, it was bought at auction by Hole & Co. Ltd of Newark.
As a result of their later take-over, it is now trading as a John Smith’s pub.
