Mersey Hotel, Stockport

Stopford's Brewery Co. Ltd, Imperial Brewery, Birch Street, West Gorton, Manchester.

Alfred Stopford moved from Ancoats to the Imperial Brewery in about 1863. Registered 1889.

Bought by Walker & Homfrays Ltd. 1927 and the public houses were transferred to their subsidiary, the Palatine Bottling Co. Ltd. who occupied the brewery until 1949.
