John Hunt Cuthbert was listed as a brewer in 1844 and by 1855 was trading as Cuthbert & Sedgewick.  
John Hunt Cuthbert of the Stonham Hotel mentioned in 1841 as the Ellen Brewery.  


John Goodwin was recorded in 1868 and in 1885, the premises were in use by an E P Dawson & Co.  
By 1855 was trading as Cuthbert & Sedgwick/ Sidgwick.
 
In 1868 John Goodwin was bankrupt here and the brewery and hotel to let by the [[Kirkstall Brewery Co Ltd]] of Leeds. Hence, also shown as Edwin Dawson & Co. (see [[Burton & Lincoln Breweries Ltd]]), but the plant had been for sale and it is likely that it was only used as a malting.
