Tollemache & Cobbold Breweries Ltd (Tolly Cobbold), Cliff Brewery, Cliff Road, Ipswich, Suffolk.

Created with the merged of Cobbold & Co. Ltd and Tollemache Breweries Ltd. in 1957 to form Tollemache & Cobbold Breweries Ltd., aka Tolly Cobbold, owning 370 tied houses.

Acquired by Ellerman Shipping Lines 1977 which then was acquired by Barclay Brothers 1983 and then sold to the Brent Walker Group - a property and leisure group owned by former boxers George and Billy Walker - in January 1989. Brent Walker closed the brewery in 1989.

In June 1990, Brent Walker sold the brewery to Brian Cowie and Bob Wales as a management buy-out, who reopened it, brewing a range of Tolly beers. But closed again in 2003 when bought by Ridley & Sons Ltd.

The Cliff Brewery is Grade II listed. Here is a link to the Historic England list record: [1]
