Bill Swift writes:-

The Brewery House Hotel was first licensed in 1899 in a former brewery which had been established in Hollins, High Harrington, by Abraham Kendall in the late 1860s (the youngest of 3 breweries in Harrington).

In 1899, the building was still owned by Kendall, but brewing had ended. The license application was made by John Salkeld, but it was to be a tied house of Henry Spencer & Co of Irish Street Brewery, Whitehaven. In exchange for this license, Spencers terminated the licenses of the Ship Inn and the Ironworks Hotel, both in Harrington.
