Founded c.1850 by Hargreaves Brothers and used by them until 1876 when acquired by Renshaw &amp;amp; Cardwell. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The Chester Road Brewery Co. Ltd was registered April 1889 to acquire Joseph Cox, 219 Chester Road. &lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
In July 1889 the name was changed to Cox&#039;s Brewery Ltd and in May 1894 the business of Henry Cardwell was acquired and the name was changed again as above. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Brewing was then concentrated at the Naval Brewery. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In July 1899 [[Wilsons Brewery Ltd]]. acquired Cardwell &amp;amp; Co. Ltd. then in liquidation. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The premises were later used by [[Swales &amp;amp; Co. Ltd]].&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
