Founded in the 1830s. Registered 1887 as William Yates & Co. Ltd. Registered as above October 1896 with 175 public houses.  
Founded at 76 Hamilton Street, Birkenhead in the 1830s, and operated as Gatehouse & Yates from 1877 to 1887, when it merged with the Castle Brewery in Ardwick. Brewing continued in Birkenhead until 1934.
 
Registered 1887 as William Yates & Co. Ltd. Registered as above October 1896 with 175 public houses.  


Acquired by [[John Smith's Tadcaster Brewery Co. Ltd]] 1961 and brewing ceased by 1966 when sold to Allied Breweries and used as a depot.

Yates Castle Brewery Ltd, Castle Brewery, Fairfield Street, Ardwick, Greater Manchester

Founded at 76 Hamilton Street, Birkenhead in the 1830s, and operated as Gatehouse & Yates from 1877 to 1887, when it merged with the Castle Brewery in Ardwick. Brewing continued in Birkenhead until 1934.

Registered 1887 as William Yates & Co. Ltd. Registered as above October 1896 with 175 public houses.

Acquired by John Smith's Tadcaster Brewery Co. Ltd 1961 and brewing ceased by 1966 when sold to Allied Breweries and used as a depot.
