Wrexham Lager Beer Co, St Georges Crescent, Wrexham - Photographs taken by Roger Putman - 23 November 2011
Oval rugby ball, black for coal, green for pasture and Welsh gold topped by a fire breathing dragon. The Wrexham logo
The old brewery dated back to 1882 and the label on this early bottle has Wrexham, England!
The rather austere exterior of the brewery
The 6 tonne Hafner Muschler glycol unit keeps everything cool.
CO2 tank crammed into the back yard
Pre-crushed malt from Crisp and some of the KSM kegs with stainless inners protected by black plastic
The brewplant is by Kaspar Schultz from Bamberg, grist case on the left and whirlpool on the right
There are three vessels, mash vessel/copper, lauter tun and whirlpool
Pre-crushed malt is tipped in here….
The inverted cone pre-masher
Paddles and baffles in the mash vessel with bottom heating jackets
The lauter tun raking gear
A Seepex pump removes the spent grains

Note the etched inspection ports
The rather incongruous copper 'spindle' (from the German for saccharometer) for sampling wort and controlling the process
Six 50hL unitanks are indoors with the Filtrox filter on the right
Details of the sight panels
Below the vessels is lit by eerie blue LEDs
The vessel changeover station and three pots for treatment additions
Moravek BC30/BF30 combined carbonation/sterile filtration module with the bright beer tank behind
The twin head M+F keg unit
The brewery uses the Brewman keg tracking system. The tear off strips are stuck to the delivery note and the uplift docket
