Joseph Dalzell's Parton & Harrington Breweries Ltd, Tower Brewery, Duke Street, Whitehaven, Cumbria.
Registered March 1892. The Parton brewery was sold to the Maryport Brewery Ltd. 1905 with 74 public houses. Merged with Jennings Brothers Ltd of Cockermouth 1906 but was still operated as a separate concern, the profits being divided each year.
This arrangement ended in September 1923 after a dispute over the accounts. William Jackson Armstrong bankrupt in 1932 and Tower Brewery with 22 houses put up for sale but only 3 houses were sold. Harrington Brewery was acquired by Matthew Brown & Co. Ltd. 1925 with 75 tied houses and is now a garage.
