Founded in late 18th century as Biddle and King although originally owned by the Wells family in 17th century.

Registered July 1898 to merge Wheeler & Co. and Leadbetter & Bird.

Acquired by Ashby's Staines Brewery Ltd. October 1929 with 148 tied houses and brewing ceased 1931.
