The brands and brewery of the former Charles Wells Ltd company were sold to Marstons in 2017. The company kept much of its pub estate, and in 2019, it rebranded itself as Wells & Co. In 2019, they developed a new brewery in Fairhill in north-west Bedford. The brewery incorporates a shop, pub and restaurant.
