Welch Ale Brewery Ltd, 561 Old Kent Road London SE1, Greater London.
Established c.1836 by Benjamin Smith as the Crown Brewery. Listed as Christopher Liddell “Welsh” Ale Brewery 1871-1876, then Liddell & Co 1877-1898 but directories also show A & T Carmichael Welch Ale Brewery between 1877-1884 as they were leasing the site from Liddell’s executors.
Registered 1898 to acquire the business of Liddell & Co.
In 1900 merged with Bowden’s Royal Chelsea Brewery and Lion Brewery, Princes Risborough. New brewery built on Kings Road. The Old Kent Road brewery was offered for sale, brewing being concentrated at Chelsea.
