An advert from 1884

Walter Ray, Stone Steam Brewery, Greenhithe, Stone, Kent.

Walter Ray was a brewer at the Stone Brewery in 1859 which advertised as above in 1894 and 1895.

The firm was acquired by Walker & Son Ltd. of Gravesend in 1897 and the premises used for the production of mineral waters.

A W J Ward of the Stone Brewery was listed in the Brewers Almanac in 1895.

Ward may have been the Ray’s operative brewer.

Brewing had certainly ceased by 1911.
