By 1898, he had moved to Hogsthorpe, where he lived at Thames Street. A property sale of 10th August 1910 locates him at a brewery near to Hogsthorpe House, which is in the centre of the village. The 1911 Census still lists him, aged 66, as a brewer. | |||

Walkin's father Charles Reed was listed as a brewer at the Three Tuns (Ingoldmells) in 1856; then listed as a common brewer in Addlethorpe in the 1861 Census. Walkin and his mother Eliza were both listed as brewers in Addlethorpe in 1871. Walkin was still listed there "employing one man" in 1881.
