Thornbridge Brewery, Thornbridge Hall, Derbyshire - Photographs taken by Roger Putman - 24 February 2009
Thornbridge was founded in 2005 by Jim Harrison. Jim had been a home brewer and made his fortune making engine gaskets in Barnsley. He bought Thornbridge Hall and started brewing again
He eyed up the old stone mason's workshop on the estate.
He installed the brew plant from Marston Moor in Yorkshire with six 30hL fermenters
Ventilation while brewing
The brewery office is an old 'tin tabernacle'. These are cheap temporary structures erected by congregations before they could afford a more permanent edifice.
The Lanemark hot air for copper boiling gets hot.
Space was always at a premium at the Hall so as output rose to 4000hL, the brewery decided to move
The conditioning tanks have been well extended
Mini kegs share space with the hop stock
A pair of the new vessels shoehorned in. The new brewery in nearby Bakewell was commissioned in August 2009
