Founded by William Round 1837 and was acquired by Thomas Plant in 1875. Registered 1901 as Plant's Brewery Ltd.  
Founded by William Round 1837. The Rounds ran the Cottage Spring pub at 40 High Street, and built their brewery at the rear of the pub. The Steam Brewery was a traditional tower brewery of 8 quarters capacity. It had a malthouse attached. Following Samuel Round's death, it was acquired by Thomas Plant of Brierley Hill, in 1875. The brewery was bought by F Stephenson in 1896; then registered in August 1901 as '''Plant's Brewery Ltd'''.
