Thomas Murphy & Co. Ltd, Nelson Street Brewery, Clonmel, Co Tipperary, Ireland.

Founded 1798. Brewery for sale 1925 and was acquired by Bulmers Cider.

Brewery still standing and used by Showerings.

Now trading as C&C producing Magner’s Cider.


From the Brewery History society Journal number 91

The brewery was founded in 1798 and within ten years was exporting porter and Scotch Ale to Bristol. It traded locally with markets in both the South and West of Ireland.

It closed in 1926 when the plant and buildings were purchased by Messrs Bulmers.

Murphy's Brewery remains a beautiful castellated structure housing the large oak vats of Showerings Ciders.
