Possibly founded in 16th century.

Acquired by Joshua Tetley & Son Ltd in September 1949 with three public houses as follows:

  1. Grapes Hotel, Green Lane, Thornton, near Liverpool
  2. Liver Hotel, Crosby Road North, Waterloo
  3. Railway Hotel, Duke Street, Formby
