Skipton Castle, The Bailey, Skipton, North Yorkshire

Skipton Castle is a Grade 1 Listed medieval castle. It was built in 1090 by Robert de Romille, a Norman baron, and was later occupied by the Clifford family. It is privately owned by the Fattorini family, jewellers and silversmiths. The castle is open to the public.

Like most large houses of the period, it had its own brewery. A limited selection of equipment is displayed in the former brew-house, including a lead-lined ale cooler.
